OpenLimit Holding AG: Product launch at E-world 2015

SMGWs with integrated communication module for broadband power line, mobile & Ethernet communication

Berlin, Mannheim (pta011/04.02.2015/11:35 UTC+1) Corporate News: Power Plus Communications and OpenLimit present new Smart Meter Gateways with integrated communication module for broadband power line, mobile or Ethernet communication

At this year's E-world, OpenLimit and PPC will present the latest FNN-compliant Smart Meter Gateways with integrated telecommunications module for broadband power line, mobile or Ethernet communication. To this end, PPC is using the new BPL-generation G4 based on IEEE 1901, which has already proven very successful in the first installations. Many partners have also integrated the SMGWs into their solutions and will be demonstrating these at their stands at the trade fair in Essen. Next-generation SMGWs - live demonstration of the most technically diverse devices on the market.

Power Plus Communications AG (http://ppc-ag.de) and OpenLimit SignCubes AG (http://openlimit.com) will be presenting their latest Smart Meter Gateways (SMGW) for the first time. At E-world 2013 and 2014, the SMGW pioneers were already able to catch the attention of visitors with live demonstration of their advanced pilot devices. This year, the team will be showcasing the next generation of Smart Meter Gateways. What is special this time around is that three integrated telecommunication modules (TC modules) will be presented at once: broadband power line, M2M mobile communications (GPRS) and Ethernet for connection to existing DSL or fiber-optic networks. This means the partners can provide all the in-demand communication solutions from a single source. Needless to say, the latest SMGWs are being developed and manufactured in accordance with the principles of the BSI Protection Profile, Technical Guideline BSI TR-03109 and the FNN requirement specification ("Lastenheft" in German).

Successful pilot projects in the new German metering system architecture
The major success of the new BPL-generation G4 in recent months and now its availability as an integrated TC module in the SMGW, as well as the simultaneous provision of mobile communication SMGWs, is stimulating demand in the industry. The integration with all leading GWA (Gateway Administration) partners also proves the success of the partners' interoperability initiative. After the "Stadtwerke Düsseldorf" (municipal utility) became the first energy provider to test the highly secure Smart Meter Gateways from PPC and OpenLimit in November 2013, the collaboration partners are experiencing significantly increased demand and enjoying a large number of collaborations since mid-2014. More and more energy providers have started their own pilot and evaluation projects in order to intensively test in practice the functionality, security as well as WAN communication solutions requirements defined in the BSI Protection Profile and the Technical Guideline.

SMGW from PPC and OpenLimit available to see at various partner stands
PPC and OpenLimit have been testing and developing their SMGW for many years in collaboration with partner companies, in order to guarantee embedding throughout the entire system from the meter right through to the backend and the Gateway Administration (GWA). This interoperability initiative and openness for partnership is bearing fruit, which means there will be SMGWs and live demos at many other stands at the E-world too.
